Billed as “the Iditarod with a chance of drowning,” the inaugural Race to Alaska took place in June of 2015. The rules of the race were simple: captain a boat from Port Townend, WA to Ketchikan, AK, along the Inside Passage of British Columbia, with no motors and no support. The first boat won $10,000 and the runner up聽got a set of steak knives.
