Kick off winter and the start of ski season by joining Warren Miller’s SNO-CIETY.

The tour for the 76th annual film launches October 18 with a special World Premiere of the film at Abravenal Hall in Salt Lake City, Utah. Hundreds of showings will follow the premiere, spanning the U.S. and Canada. Some events will feature giveaways, others will have surprise guests, and all will create a sense of community and stoke around our favorite season: winter.

Warren Miller鈥檚 SNO-CIETY is a celebration of the spirit of winter, no matter how you connect to the snow. We caught up with Breezy Johnson, who captured what SNO-CIETY is about in a few words: skiing as peak existence. “Racing and using 100 percent of your body, resisting forces and skiing fast, and 100 percent of your mind, to see and plan how you’re going to carry speed and continue going fast, is the feeling of being truly alive,” she shared.

SNO-CIETY follows other athletes like Daron Rahlves, Britta Winans, Judd Henkes, Sarka Panacochova, Chris Rubens, and Juho Kilkki around California, Colorado, and New Hampshire to Austria, British Columbia, Finland, Scotland, and more.

From big mountain lines in places like remote Alaska, to race gates, to Finish urban ski spots, SNO-CIETY rekindles a love for being outside through the coldest months.

The newest Warren Miller film is coming soon, and this year marks a major milestone: the feature film鈥檚 75th anniversary. The first movie produced by the iconic filmmaker debuted back in 1949 as the world was introduced to a whole new way to watch skiing. And today the first official trailer for 鈥�75鈥� is live.

鈥淭he film showcases a diverse mix of snowsports icons, Olympic hopefuls, and emerging talents,鈥� said Warren Miller Executive Producer Josh Haskins. 鈥淚t鈥檚 unlike anything we鈥檝e crafted before and is poised to ignite excitement and winter stoke in theaters nationwide this fall.鈥�

The official film premiere is Oct. 15 in Boulder, Colo.鈥攁n especially meaningful day that would have marked Miller鈥檚 100th birthday. () Celebrations will extend far off the silver screen with a festival-style street party. If you can鈥檛 make it to Boulder, the film is going on the road for an almost 100-city North American tour.

Colorado-based active lifestyle publisher Pocket Outdoor Media听announced today that its rapidly growing team has gained two new members:听Micah Abrams and Sierra Shafer, formerly of听A360 Media.

Abrams鈥攚ho joins Pocket to supervise editorial strategy for Warren Miller Entertainment and SKI magazine鈥攐versaw content strategy for 国产吃瓜黑料 Sports Network,听A360’s sports and fitness portfolio, for the last four years, a role that included management of Powder, Surfer, and Bike magazines, among others.听Shafer, who will become the new editor-in-chief of SKI, served as Powder‘s editor-in-chief for the last two years.

The move comes as several prominent titles under听A360 Media, including Powder, face an uncertain future. This fall,听Powder, along with sister publications Snowboarder,听Surfer, and Bike,听paused production听and听furloughed all staff indefinitely without pay. Many have questioned whether the titles are gone for good.

“The playing field for enthusiast media is an entirely different game than it was even five years ago,鈥� said Abrams听in a release published today. 鈥淧OM is moving in all the right directions by putting audiences at the center of both its growth and its revenue strategies, and I couldn’t be more excited to join their team. It鈥檚 an incredible privilege to come back to Warren Miller Entertainment and to help reimagine SKI, one of outdoor media’s most venerable titles.”

Pocket CEO Robin Thurston said that hiring Abrams and Shafer “furthers [the company’s] commitment to artful storytelling as our north star.鈥�

Abrams and Shafer will be instrumental in growing membership for Active Pass, Pocket’s听subscription membership program that includes benefits like event registrations, training plans, and premium content.

In January, the听SKI听magazine website will relaunch on a new platform and join the Active Pass program.

Warren Miller, one of the original patriarchs of snowsports, known for fiercely advocating for the outdoors and his globally-acclaimed ski filmmaking, died at 93 years old on Wednesday at his home on Orcas Island, Washington.

With heavy hearts, Warren Miller Entertainment confirmed the skiing legend’s death on Thursday morning.

“The unsurmountable loss of the pioneer of the Warren Miller brand, father of ski filmmaking, and one of skiing鈥檚 greatest ambassadors is a loss to the industry,” according to a statement by the company.

Miller’s first time on skis was at age 13, when he was with his Boy Scout troop leader at Mount Waterman, outside of Los Angeles, in 1937. He purchased his first pair of skis and bamboo poles for $2, earned on his paper routes, according to WME.

Witty and adventure-seeking, Miller went on to produce more than 500 films centered on winter and water sports, and wrote around 1,200 columns and 11 books. His first film in 1950 was Deep and Light. His last in 2017 was Line of Descent.

Miller once said, 鈥淎 pair of skis are the ultimate transportation to freedom.鈥�

Teton Gravity Research’s brothers Todd and Steve Jones appeared in Miller’s film Endless Gravity, after Miller had left the company.

“Warren was an absolute legend and a true ski bum at heart,” Todd Jones said. “He never veered from what he believed in and thought was right. He was also one of the best storytellers in the world.
