Whether you have an open wound or a splinter, you need a tool to remove debris from your skin, says Tate. Just make sure the聽聽are clean.聽
Latex Gloves聽

Lighter: Tate considers his an essential survival tool. Use it to start a fire, provide light, and even sterilize equipment.聽
Ace bandage:聽Use Coban for wound dressing, but stick with for sprains and strains. It鈥檚 much more comfortable for basic athletic injuries, says Tate. 聽
Athletic tape:聽Without your Ace bandage is useless.聽
Tylenol: It can treat general pain and alleviate light fever.聽
Benadryl: Tate uses to treat mild allergic reactions.
Aspirin: 鈥淚t鈥檚 particularly important if you鈥檙e adventuring with people with potential cardiac problems,鈥 says Tate. 鈥淚t could be a lifesaver.鈥澛
础诲惫颈濒:听Your go-to anti-inflammatory聽聽for most injuries and sore muscles.聽
Alcohol wipes:聽Tate uses alcohol wipes to sterilize medical tools (think tweezers and an irrigation syringe),聽not wounds. 聽
Antibiotic ointment:聽Apply antibiotic ointment to dressings that wrap tissue wounds, Tate says. The ointment prevents the bandage from sticking to skin, keeps the wound moist, and acts as聽a barrier against bacteria.
Gauze: 鈥淔or controlling bleeding and for dressing wounds,鈥 Tate says. He suggests buying squares (3×3 or 4×4 inches) so you don鈥檛 have to pare them down in the field.聽
