One of the most overlooked aspects of GoPro鈥檚 recent Hero 4 launch was the release of version 2.5 of the company鈥檚 free Studio editing suite. Embedded in Studio 2.5 is an extreme slow-motion feature called Flux.
If you ski in the terrain park and can鈥檛 yet order a drink at a bar, you鈥檝e probably already heard of Flux by its proprietary Adobe Premiere plugin name . They work the same way, interpolating and creating frames between the ones your camera has actually captured.
The result is that, on clean backgrounds like blue sky, snow, or water, you can produce movies that look like they were shot at 1,000 frames per second. The big news, though is the price. Twixtor Pro still costs $600. Studio with Flux is free and works just as well on DSLR and handicam footage as it does on GoPro clips.
