The appeal of the multitool is obvious: it's like an entire toolbox in one, tiny package. The possibilities for problem solving are endless, and they can even save your life: just ask Aron Ralston.

Here are five of our favorites that won’t break the bank. 


Leatherman Wingman ($35)

has Leatherman’s signature design, with practical tools like a wire cutter, pliers, and even a small ruler. But we also like the small details like a knife you can open with one hand and the addition of a can opener.


Gerber Curve ($15)

This is the for people who primarily want a pocket knife but could also use a few additional tools. It has a 1.25-inch stainless steel blade, screwdrivers, and a file, all of which lockout when in use. The design is ergonomic and sleek, and small enough to fit on your keychain.
