Take a road trainer and a trail runner, smash them together, and voil脿: the Adrenaline ASR 5. Medial posting (a.k.a. denser foam) in the midsole delivers moderate pronation support, a rarity in trail runners, and the slender fit feels nimble on hard-packed and mildly rocky terrain. The midsole strikes a nice balance between overly cushy and too hard, and there’s enough traction for everything except steep, loose downhills. Bummer: Though supposedly water-resistant, testers experienced wet feet just running through dewy grass. Fits narrower feet best. 11.5 oz;
