LIKES IT ROUGH
The Voyageur was one of several shoes that we sent to our most abusive tester. His take: They’re “as tough as beef jerky.” After several weeks of hiking, the upper’s sturdy leather hide, the rock-solid stitching, and the company’s trademark brawny toe bumper showed virtually no signs of wear. Ditto for the loops of thick leather that secure the laces. It’s a plush ride, too, thanks to a plastic shank in the midfoot area and a heel that’s surrounded by a chunk of EVA and rubber that helps soften hard landings. If there’s a knock on this shoe, it’s the outsole rubber, which was too firm and slid easily on slabs of wet rock. 15 oz; keenfootwear.com
