Long gone are the days of worn-out, boring white cotton boxers that come in a pack of 12 at the discount store. Saxx, Stance, and other companies have made big innovations in boxer technology in the past few years and you owe it to your package to try out some of our staff favorites.

ExOfficio Give-N-Go ($26)

(ExOfficio)

My staples are . Their antimicrobial treatment keeps them odor-free even after I’ve put them through hell. They dry quickly too—I’ve washed them in hostels backpacking abroad, and two pairs lasted me two weeks, easy.

—Jeremy Rellosa, editorial assistant

Saxx Quest 2.0 ($32)

(Saxx)

As good as  are for travel and hiking, I find myself wearing them most often on normal days at work and around town. We’ve written before about the support the BallPark Pouch provides, so I won’t get graphic here, and the thin nylon-spandex blend breathes exceptionally well. What’s more, flat seams don’t chafe, and the slim waistband lies comfortably under a belt. So whether I’m questing up a fourteener or just to the grocery store, I always reach for these first.

—Will Egensteiner, senior editor

Rapha Merino Wool ($50)

(Rapha)

I don’t know if I can recommend spending $50 on a pair of underwear. But a few pairs of  showed up on my desk one day and I’ve been rotating through them since. Comfortable, plain. Can’t ask for much more of your drawers.

—Matt Skenazy, senior editor

Stance Wholester ($35)

(Stance)

A relative newcomer to the underwear game,  copied Saxx’s venerated pouch but added its own touches, including super-vibrant colorways and silky-soft cotton-polyester blend fabric.

—Ben Fox, affiliate reviews manager

Saxx Vibe ($32)

(Saxx)

I’d be remiss if I left off this list. Although they’re a bit old-news at this point (they are the OG performance underwear and we long ago dubbed them the best), they’re still what I reach for most mornings. Their BallPark construction is heavenly; they look great, don’t stretch out, and overall are just a joy to wear.
