This month, 50-year-old Russian adventurer Valery Rozov became the first person to BASE jump from Kilimanjaro, the largest freestanding volcanic mass in the world, according to a February 16 .
Rozov jumped from the top of the Western Breach Wall, at 17,913 feet. (Kilimanjaro is 19,341 feet tall at its summit.) He spent more than a minute in free fall and covered nearly two miles before pulling his parachute and landing to a cheering crowd at Barranco Camp, Tanzania.
