Lindsey Vonn captured a record seventh overall World Cup downhill title with a victory in the season鈥檚 last race on Wednesday in Meribel, France, .

This is Vonn鈥檚 18th World Cup season title. Both the season titles and her seven world titles are records for women.

Going into the race, Vonn led Austrian Anna Fenninger by a slim 35-point margin, but Fenninger failed to challenge Vonn, coming in 10th, nearly a second behind.

Vonn has returned to dominance after a series of knee injuries marred her 2013 and 2014 seasons and kept her out of the Sochi Winter Olympics. This season saw her break the record for career World Cup victories by a woman.

In addition to the downhill title, Vonn is also gunning for the overall super-G championship. She leads Fenninger by just eight points in that contest, which will be decided on Thursday.
