A viscous winter storm that blew through Yellowstone and Grant Teton national parks this weekend and slowed the search for a missing snowboarder. Whiteout conditions and high avalanche danger prevented snowplows from clearing a 22-mile stretch of road between Grand Teton and Yellowstone, forcing park rangers to close the main highway Saturday afternoon. Travelers were given emergency shelter at two mountain lodges and an elementary school. The weather also kept rangers from aiding in the rescue of a lost snowboarder in an out-of-bounds area near Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Volunteers from Teton County Search and Rescue, however, were able to locate 31-year-old Sam Dunlap.
