Wildlife activists are asking King Juan Carlos of Spain to relinquish his honorary title as president of Spain’s chapter of the World Wildlife Fund after reports surfaced that he went hunting for elephants in Botswana last week. Media outlets became aware of the trip after Carlos returned to Madrid to receive medical attention for a broken hip. WWF Spain has written a letter requesting a meeting with royal officials and wildlife activists are asking for his resignation. The trip’s cost has also inspired calls for Carlos to abdicate .
