This is winter steelhead fishing in the Pacific Northwest鈥攃old, beautiful, and filled with lots of walking and very few fish. Blake Klopfenstein and I set out on this snowy day in hopes of connecting with a fish from the famous winter run of steelhead that surge through this area around Vancouver Island.
Despite the great water in front of us and what we thought were pretty good casts, the fish weren’t biting that day. After a couple of hours of frozen hands and feet, we headed back to the truck for a drink to warm up. Walking downstream on opposite sides of the river, a flurry of snow kicked in and added texture to this image, making it stand out from the rest.聽
