It was the final day of a week spent shooting throughout the Pacific Northwest. We didn’t have a skier lined up to shoot at Mt. Baker until the last minute when Zack Giffin agreed to show us around. Giffin is one of the most powerful skiers I’ve ever worked with, something you can feel as he comes toward you. As I stood on top of this line with him, the hero shot wasn’t obvious because we had no idea how he was going to get through this thick section of timber.
I was getting set up below with Dane Henry, who was shooting video across the way, when he yelled “Where the hell is he coming through?” I had no idea, but luckily we were able to catch him as he cleared the trees.
