Two popular ski resorts in Central California were forced to shut down on Tuesday due to lack of snow, . Dodge Ridge in Pinecrest and Badger Pass in Yosemite National Park announced that all trails would be closed until snowfall improved.

Dodge Ridge鈥檚 ski season started strong in December with 10 inches of powder falling in 48 hours. A spokesperson for Dodge Ridge told KCRA that rather than keeping only its beginner runs open, operators chose to shut down the mountain entirely out of respect to skiers looking for the full resort experience.

Farther north, a spokesperson for the Tahoe Donner Cross Country trail, a popular cross-country ski area near Lake Tahoe, announced that it too would be closing down, citing lack of snowfall. that most of the region has experienced dry and unusually warm conditions for about a month, with the temperature in Reno approaching 66 degrees Fahrenheit on Sunday, tying a 44-year-old record.
