Fresh off her home-turf world championship gold medal, Mikaela Shiffrin won the World Cup slalom in Maribor, Slovenia, on Sunday, .

Drizzle during the first run turned into rain by the second run, but that was no problem for the American. 鈥淚 like skiing in the rain, so that鈥檚 okay,鈥 Shiffrin told the AP. 鈥淔or that, [they] were really good conditions.鈥 The American was first after the initial run and comfortably defended her lead in the second.

Shiffrin, who has won the overall World Cup slalom title the past two years, overtook Frida Hansdotter of Sweden in the overall slalom standings with two races remaining.

With the victory, Shiffrin broke the record for most World Cup wins by a teenager鈥攕he now has 13. Shiffrin turns 20 next month. Her 13 World Cup wins already place her third among active skiers. Only Lindsey Vonn (64) and Tina Maze (26) have more.
