French trimaran goes faster by 3 days

A French trimaran on Friday for circumnavigating the globe by sailboat after landing in Brest, France three days faster than the previous world record. Skipper Loick Peyron and a crew of 13 sailed the 130-foot trimaran Banque Populaire V for 45 days, 13 hours, and 42 minutes before crossing the Jules Verne Trophy line in Brest. The trimaran contended with unfavorable weather and formidable icebergs along the way. “We had to be very careful going very fast through the red zones and I had to furrow my brow to calm my young Jedi who liked to go even faster,” said Peyron. “I like to go fast but you also have to know how to go slow.”
