Point Break, the 1991 action-surf film starring Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze, is ready for a remake after a consortium of movie producers at Alcon Entertainment and Warner Bros. bought the film’s rights last week. Kurt Wimmer, who wrote the screeplay for the Angelina Jolie film Salt, is reportedly behind the new Point Break script. The original, absurd-but-enjoyable plot featured Reeves as an undercover FBI agent who infiltrated a gang of surfing bank theives, led by Patrick Swayze’s character Bohdi. That version was directed by Kathryn Bigelow, who won an Oscar in 2009 for The Hurt Locker, and at least some Point Break fans . Producers have not yet picked a director for the new project.
