Lindsey Vonn Takes 50th World Cup Win

On Saturday, Linsey Vonn notched her with a win in downhill in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. Vonn, 27, edged Nadja Kamer of Switzerland by .41 seconds and extended her lead in overall world cup standings. Vonn is now one of only six skiers in history, male or female, to have won 50 World Cup races. “Alberto Tomba has 50 ski wins, and he is one of the best skiers of all time. I don’t see myself in that way, but to know that I have accomplished so much to this point is amazing,” she said. On Sunday, fellow U.S. skier Julia Mancuso took her first of the season in super-G. It was the first time since 2006 that two different American women have won consecutive World Cup races. Vonn and Mancuso were also the last pair.
