Kelly Slater, already the dominant surfer of his or perhaps any generation, clinched the 11th ASP world title of his career on Thursday at the Rip Curl Pro Surf in San Francisco. Slater, 39, won his first title at age 20 in 1992, and holds the distinction of being both the youngest and the oldest surfer ever to win ASP titles. His victory came exactly one year after the death of rival Andy Irons.
