George Hincapie in the US Pro Cycling Challenge on Wednesday, outsprinting HTC-Highroad’s Tejay Van Garderen down Aspen’s Main Street to take his first win in two years. Van Garderen gained enough time to move ahead of Radioshack’s Levi Leipheimer, becoming the third race leader in as many days. Wednesday’s stage via 12,095-foot Independence Pass and 12,126-foot Cottonwood Pass鈥攖he two highest ascents in the history of professional road cycling. Eight riders crashed in a pile-up on the climb up Cottonwood when one rider hit a cattle guard. After the crash, Italian cyclist Daniele Callegarin was airlifted to Swedish Medical Center in Denver with a concussion, dental injuries, and two broken hands.
