Andrew Hamilton, a 40-year-old stay-at-home dad from Denver, broke the record for the fastest ascent of Colorado鈥檚 58 14,000-foot peaks on Thursday, . Beginning on June 29, he completed the feat in nine days, 21 hours, and 51 minutes, beating the previous record by almost 23 hours.

鈥淚鈥檓 so proud,鈥 Natalie Hamilton, Andrew鈥檚 wife, . 鈥淗aving a goal and wanting it and succeeding in doing it, it鈥檚 a dream come true.鈥

Hamilton鈥檚 final ascent was Longs Peak, which tops out at 14,259 feet. He began on Wednesday at 7:17 p.m., summited, and returned to the base at 2:21 a.m. on Thursday, according to the Denver Post. Teddy Keizer held the previous record, set in 2000, of 10 days, 20 hours and 26 minutes.
