The Hula painted frog, , is still alive, Israeli parks officials said on Thursday. An inspector for Israel’s Nature and Parks Authority found one of the amphibians, which had disappeared after Israel drained its marshland habitat in the Hula Valley in the 1950s. “The species now has another chance to survive,” the group said. The rust-and-grey frog, which has a dark underside with small white spots, is being kept captive while researchers try to find more of the animals.
