Erik Roner, a professional skier who helped pioneer ski-BASE jumping, died in a parachuting accident in Squaw Valley on Monday, . Roner was the TV host for , which focuses on less-traveled outdoor destinations. He was also a member of MTV’s ,Ìýwhich follows motorsports champion Travis Pastrana and friends around as they ride dirt bikes, BASE-jump, and perform other stunts. Roner died while participating in a parachute jump during the opening ceremonies of the Squaw Valley Institute Celebrity Golf Tournament. He went off course, hit a tree, and was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
He is survived by his wife and two children.
