Canadian skier Sarah Burke being treated at Salt Lake City’s University Hospital after sustaining serious head injuries in a superpipe fall in Park City, Utah, on Tuesday afternoon. According to witnesses, Burke, 29, landed a jump off balance, then “” onto her side and hit her head. It is the same superpipe where snowboarder Kevin Pearce was critically injured in late 2009. Canadian Freestyle Team director Peter Judge confirmed that Burke was in a coma. Burke is a four-time X-Games champion, the first woman ever to land a 1080, and was an outspoken advocate of bringing skier superpipe to the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. 鈥淪arah is a very, very strong human and she will be fine,鈥 , Burke’s husband.
