With a ridiculous itinerary聽from South Africa to Norway in front of me, I stopped in Ripon, England, to visit one of the brightest talents I know: Callum Jelley is a skier, writer, filmer, and mountain biker鈥攊n short, one of those people who seem to be good at everything.
The terrain surrounding Jelley's home is known for its rolling hills and grazing sheep. Very rarely is it thought of as a mountain-biking destination. During my visit, we found this old quarry across a river valley that looked similar to the scree fields you might expect deep in British Colombia. Jelley ripped down the slope, leaving a big “S” trail behind him as if he were a skier cutting through fresh snow.聽
