Boston was the U.S. Olympic Committee鈥檚 top choice as聽host city聽for the 2024 Summer Games, but local opposition and budget constraints led the city to withdraw its candidacy in late July. The United States聽has not hosted the Olympics聽since the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City.
The International Olympic Committee will announce聽the host city for 2024聽in 2017.
