On July 10, 2012, Lance Armstrong鈥檚 Italian cycling coach Dr. Michele Ferrari was issued a lifetime ban for possession, trafficking, and assisting athletes with illegal substances. Now, more than two years later, it turns out the doctor is still working with athletes.
More than 30,000 emails indicating that the doctor is still involved in the cycling world have been discovered and are now in the possession of police, according to . The server to the doctor鈥檚 website, located in Finland, was recovered and contains emails between Ferrari and a variety of athletes, including Armstrong, that were exchanged after the lifetime ban issued by the Italian Cycling Federation and the United States Anti-Doping Agency.
Armstrong claimed to cut all ties with Ferrari after investigations of the doctor in 2004. Then, reports found large sums of money exchanged between Ferrari and Armstrong in 2005 and 2006. Reports claimed that Armstrong also met with the doctor in 2010. Now, the recovered emails discovered that Ferrari asked Armstrong to secure a job at Livestrong or in the fashion industry for his son鈥檚 girlfriend. The outcome of the request is not known, according to .
Ferrari has adamantly denied all doping-related allegations, despite Armstrong鈥檚 under-oath admissions to employing the coach for doping this spring.
