Michael Ashenden, a prominent Australian anti-doping expert, on Tuesday announced his resignation from the lab that oversees the biological passport program. Ashenden objected to a clause in his contract with the Athlete Passport Management Unit that required him to check with superiors before speaking to the media. Ashenden has given discussing drug test results from several major professional athletes, including Lance Armstrong. “It seems to me that too much emphasis is being placed on controlling what the media are told. There should be nothing to hide, so why stop the experts from talking?” he said.
