Docherty, an Olympic silver medalist, overtook Armstrong with just more than a mile to go event’s final run. Armstrong initially failed to offer Docherty congratulations after finishing. “I’m not sure what it was all about. I can only assume he was just disappointed to get beaten,” Docherty said. Armstrong is expected to compete in Ironman events in April, May, and June in an attempt to for the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii on October 13.
