Allie听Ostrander, from听Soldotna, Alaska, won the women鈥檚 junior title at the World Mountain Running Championship in听Snowdonia, North Wales, on Saturday, according to the听. Fellow Alaskan Levi听Thomet听placed second in the junior men鈥檚 race, the highest finish ever by a U.S. runner in that event.

Ostrander, 18, ran the 2.92-mile course, which featured 820 feet of elevation gain and descent, in 19:44, according to听.听Thomet, 18, from Kodiak, Alaska, ran the men鈥檚 race, which featured two loops of the same course, in 33:50.

In May, both runners set state records in the 1,600 meters and 3,200 meters at the Alaska high school track and field championships, according to听Alaska Dispatch News.听Ostrander听went on to win the Nike Cross Nationals in Portland, Oregon.

Ostrander听is also a six-time junior women鈥檚 champion at the Mount Marathon race in听Seward, Alaska. This July, in her debut in the senior women鈥檚 category, she听, finishing second behind Sweden鈥檚 Emilie听Forsberg.

Ostrander听recently began her freshman year running for Boise State.听Thomet听is studying in Germany for a year before running for Oregon.
