Federal agents have arrested seven people across the United States since last weekend in connection to a rhino horn smuggling ring. Twenty rhino horns, $1 million in cash, and $1 million in gold bars were among the during raids of homes and businesses associated with the international smuggling ring. Four of the defendants were arrested in Los Angeles, including a Chinese citizen who was arrested at the airport. Federal agents . “We have shut down a major source of black market horn and dealt a serious blow to the rhino horn smuggling both in the U.S. and globally,” said U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Director Dan Ashe. Most of the smuggled horns end up in Vietnam or China, where they are believed to have cancer-curing properties.
