On Friday, the U.S.听House Committee on Natural Resources鈥 ranking member, Rep.听Raul Grijalva (D-Arizona), and five other Democrats formally introduced a new bill in an effort to bring more funding to national parks,听.听Park funding through the Obama administration鈥檚听National Park Service Centennial Act would be granted in celebration of the National Park听Service鈥檚 (NPS) 100th anniversary next year, .

The bill would give NPS up to听$1.5 billion听over three years for park repairs听and upgrades.听(The NPS has听$11.5 billion in deferred maintenance projects.)听The money would also be used to increase educational programs听and establish services for visitors, including听lodging and dining, as reported in the听Hill.

According to Environment & Energy Publishing, many expect听the additional federal funding to听be a challenge to sell in听Congress.
