Assuming both parts belong to the same person, we discussed your hypothetical ball problem with , a urologist and professor at Cornell University.
“For the scrotum to freeze to the thigh, the thigh skin would have to be at a freezing temperature,” Schlegel says. That means the skin would be frostbitten. If that’s truly the case, then warm water should separate the scrotum from the thigh.
However, Schlegel says, “it’s more likely natural perspiration on the scrotum allowed it to be stuck to the thigh.” This is a common issue, he says, best avoided by wearing briefs instead of boxers, and/or sprinkling the scrotum with talcum powder to help cut down on moisture in that area.
The good news: “It’s almost unheard of for the scrotum to freeze on the thigh,” Schlegel says. And even if it did happen, “extreme cold rarely will adversely affect the testes and reproductive function, since the testes auto-regulate their position to maintain normal temperature.”
The bottom line: Unstick the scrotum with warm water, then invest in some tighty whities to avoid suffering this hypothetical problem again.
