The Coolest Gear Repair Shop in the U.S.

Nancy Ford runs the kind of store we all wish we had in our neighborhood. For two years now, she and her staff at the in Minneapolis, Minnesota, have repaired thousands of outdoor items, giving everything from bike shoes to sleeping bags a new life. All day long customers wander in with gear that needs some love. In the winter, it鈥檚 often a torn or burnt down coat. During the summer she sees a lot of broken zippers. (The store has done more than 500 zipper repairs this year alone.) She鈥檚 self taught, and she鈥檚 passed everything she鈥檚 learned onto her employees. 鈥淚 try to fix what I have because I鈥檓 a cheap-ass, not because I鈥檓 green,鈥 she says. 鈥淪pend less on gear, more on beer.鈥 To find out what her repair and consignment shop looks like on the inside, we sent local photographers to check it out.
