Skiing Colorado on the cheap in March
Question: I remember reading in the January issue of ��ԹϺ�� on the way to find discounted lift tickets in Colorado. How do I go about finding better rates for the first week in March? Thanks.

��ԹϺ�� Adviser: Blame it on frequent, powder-heavy snowstorms punctuated by blue-sky ski days, not to mention an influx of spring-breakers–either way you look at it, early March isn’t exactly low-season at Colorado ski resorts. So while you’ll be hard-pressed to find outrageous lift-ticket deals (like free skiing in Crested Butte in April), you’ll probably be able to scare up a few decent money-savers, depending on where you want to go. Aside from ‘s Vail Valley $15
Club Card, which’ll get you a not-so-astounding $5 off lift tickets (plus other off-slope perks; call 800-525-2257), your only real option is to buy your tickets in advance. At Vail, pre-purchase will save you $10 ($42 instead of $52), and at you’ll save
$11. Not bad, considering all you have to do is make an extra stop at either Christy’s Sports or REI before you get to the mountain. To find out which ski resorts have a pre-purchase program, call Colorado Ski Country at 303-837-0793. If the savings don’t add up, you may want to reconsider: , after all, has fantastic powder and $27 lift tickets–and it’s only a half-hour from Salt Lake City’s airport.
