Self-guided bike touring in Italy
Question: I have friends who will be honeymooning in Italy (mainly Tuscany) from mid-October through mid-November. They would be very interested in doing some cycling while they’re there. Are there any organized tours (even better than a group tour would be an independent tour–the kind with bikes, routes, hotels, luggage transfers, etc., but
you’re on your own for the actual cycling) that they could do during that period?

国产吃瓜黑料 Adviser: Plotting a two-wheel route through the hill villages of Italy on your own can definitely be daunting. Heck, plotting a route to the nearest Sunday brunch spot can be a bit of a mind-bender. Luckily for your newlywed friends, the bike tour experts at Experience Plus! Outfitters can relate. They also know that not everyone
likes to be crammed into a group tour with a bunch of total strangers. That’s why the Colorado-based company offers a variety of self-guided cycling tours through the Tuscany and Romagna regions of Italy. Talk about ideal: these seven- to nine-day spins come complete with accommodations, most meals, bikes, and predetermined routes–without the hassles of group logistics.
Better yet, they’ll even cart your gear around. All you need to do is arrive with bike-ready quads in tow. Your friends can jump on the nine-day Tuscany tour any Wednesday; the tours are available April through October. Bike pick-up is in Lucca, about an hour from Florence, and from there it’s a moderate 15 to 40 miles a day through the hill towns of western Tuscany and back
to Lucca. Price per person is $1,150. For details on the company’s other self-guided tours in Italy or a catalog of fully guided group trips throughout Europe, call 800-685-4565.
