Happy kiddies in the tropics Question: What do you know about Anthony’s Key Resort? We’re thinking about going there with our two kids next summer (ages 8 and 10). Will they be “happy” at night after all of the snorkeling and diving stuff? Thanks for any info. Ruth Schneider
国产吃瓜黑料 Adviser: Thanks to the family-friendly approach to life at Anthony’s Key Resort in the Bay Islands of Honduras, keeping the kiddos “happy” after dark shouldn’t be a challenge. There’s a limbo contest every Monday night, cookouts on the beach a couple of days a week, impromptu concerts with local musicians, and–best of Keeping them smiling during the day is nothing short of a breeze. Book them into the weeklong Dolphin Camp (ages eight to 14 only) that’s sponsored by the Institute for Marine Sciences and they’ll spend their days snorkeling and swimming with dolphins and learning plenty about marine life. Dolphin camp is $500 per child for the week (Sunday through Friday) and is offered If structured camp activities aren’t their scene, there’s still plenty for them to do–snorkeling, kayaking, horseback riding, and hiking the jungle trails. Rates for non-campers are $55 per night and $600 to $675 per adult per week, including all meals, activities, three boat dives per day, and unlimited shore dives. For more details, call the resort at 800-227-3483. And while you may be set on Anthony’s Key, I’m going to suggest you comparison-shop at Franklin D. Resort, a Mediterranean-style resort midway along Jamaica’s north coast. Well situated on Runaway Bay, Franklin D. caters exclusively to parents and their families, with one- to three-bedroom beachfront suites, and, better yet, a “kids under 16 stay for free” policy.
