Canoe rentals for a Klamath adventure
Question: I want an overnight canoe trip on the Eel, Trinity, or Klamath Rivers. All I need is an outfitter to rent me a canoe and pick me up but I can’t seem to find one. I don’t want a packaged tour.

Brian Groves
San Francisco, CA

国产吃瓜黑料 Adviser: After approximately 20 phone calls, I’ve come to the conclusion that no one offers the services you’re seeking.

But I did manage to find a few very helpful souls who said they may be able to work something out with you. Call Larry at 国产吃瓜黑料’s Edge (707-822-4673) in Arcata, California. His company currently offers kayak rentals and used to offer canoe rentals, but the canoes got too beat up so they stopped renting them.

Larry said you could probably arrange a shuttle with someone in the store. As for the canoe rental, Humboldt State University offers rentals, but you need to give them a general rundown of your canoeing capabilities before they’ll let you take one out. Call Dave at 707-826-6016.

I wish I could be of more help, but from what I can tell, canoes are very hard to come by in that neck of the woods. If all else fails, call the Klamath National Forest Headquarters (916-842-6131) in Yreka.
