Boundary Waters canoeing permits Q: I have taken three trips up to the Boundary Waters and love it there. I understand the reason for them changing the number of people allowed on a permit to nine instead of 10, but I have a problem with the canoe limit of three. Is there a way to get a waiver or something so we could take four canoes, or is there another place as nice as the A: Good news–you don’t need a waiver or a new place to paddle.
