Jamie O’Brien, a former Pipeline Masters champion, lit himself on fire and surfed Teahupo’o, “one of the world’s deadliest waves,” on Wednesday.

As part of his Red Bull–sponsored Web series, , now in its fourth season, O’Brien polled his fans on what they wanted to see him do.

“I got a direct message on Instagram that said it would be cool if you lit yourself on fire, and I kinda thought, why not?” O’Brien told Red Bull. “So I went to Red Bull and said, ‘Hey, I want to light myself on fire and get barreled at Teahupo’o.’ They looked at me like, ‘Are you for real?’”

On Wednesday, wearing a custom wetsuit made by Body Glove, O’Brien and a team of 25 filmed the footage, which was released on Thursday.

This clip is a teaser of a longer video that will air on August 7.
